Travel Journal Tips

I stopped off for lunch at a bar on the beach. There were lots of cute cats so I had to go there! While I waited for my food to arrive, I tried to take a photo of each cat. I made especially good friends with a black cat with white feet, I gave her the nickname ‘socks’.

There was a bar on the beach at the Sunny Beach Hotel which looked really inviting. There were cute stray cats everywhere so I decided to stop there for lunch. However, I got food poisoning! Though the cats are adorable, I recommend that you avoid eating here.

There is a great cafe in the north area of Paris, the atmosphere is so chic.

There is a great cafe in the north area of Paris called ‘Le Bonbon’. The atmosphere is so chic, but it is off the beaten path. Walk along the main street towards the Eiffel Tower until you see a white house on the right, and turn down the little side street. Follow it to the end and you’ll find the cafe! I’ve drawn you a map below.

The night market was a great experience in Thailand. Even from far away, you could see the streets all lit up and there were lots of people around.

The night market was a great experience in Thailand. The streets were all lit up for miles with bright multicolored signs advertising what was for sale. I was surrounded by the smell of street food and beer, and the chatter of the locals trying to sell their goods. Locals and tourists mingled together on the streets, laughing and having fun. It was so atmospheric and lively, even at night time.

I found a great bar and spent the night drinking with some locals. However, I missed the last train so I had to take a taxi. Halfway through the journey while watching the meter goes up I realized I wouldn’t have enough money to pay for my full journey back to my hotel. I had to use my Indonesian phrasebook to try to communicate with the driver, who didn’t speak English. I told him to stop and let me out of the taxi when the meter hit 50 Rupiah because that was all the money I had. When the meter reached 50 Rupiah, he printed me a receipt and I paid. But then, he said that he would continue taking me to my hotel for free! I was really grateful for this gesture of generosity, what a kind man!

halfway through the journey 旅行の半ばで / Rupiah ルピア(インドネシアの通貨単位) / gesture of generosity 寛大な態度

My friend and I went shopping in the town centre, we spent more time looking at the beautiful old architecture than shopping! Unfortunately, she lost her wallet somewhere, so we decided to go into every store asking whether they had seen a wallet. Eventually, we went into a store where they told us that a teenage boy had found the wallet on the street and given it to the store staff. How lucky! We wished that the boy was still around so that we could thank him properly. It made me realize that there are still honest people in the world.
